Naxxramus: Almost Ours!!!

Last night, in typical voodoo fashion, a squad of bunny rabbits hopped into the halls of Naxxramus and proceeded to make their merry way through the military quarter. Just as one most famous and daring rabbit had once decimated and beheaded half of King Arthur's knights, we once again proved that long, fluffy ears are a knight's greatest nightmare by destroying the Four Horsemen and the rest of Kel'Thuzad's death knight forces.

All that was left were two very powerful enemies, waiting for us at the frozen heart of the necropolis. And met that challenge we did.

The great frost wyrm, Sapphiron, proved a great challenge for us. His icy might was great indeed, and he sent us back to the graveyards and laughed in our faces on more than one occasion, which was expected since this was the first time we have ever faced him as a guild. But his joy was soon cut short and we brought the great wyrm down in a clattering heap. Voodoo Reborn, on its first time every facing against Sapphiron, emerged victorious.

Sadly, it was not meant to be against Kel'Thuzad, and after a few tries it was he who had the last laugh. But for our first time against him we did awesomely by getting him down to a third of his health. That's fantastic, boys and girls, especially since most of us have never seen either Sapph or Kel'Thuzad before last night. It really does prove that Voodoo Reborn, even though we are not a hard core raiding guild, is filled with people who are every bit as awesome as anyone you would find in those other guilds. It makes me proud that I'm a part of VR.

Kel'Thuzad might have lived and sent us packing last night, but he's scared. I mean, he's literally freaking the f*** out right now, because he knows we're coming back for him, and when we do it will mark the end of Kel'Thuzad.

Construct Quarter: Conquered, Thadius: Spanked

Oh I'm kicking myself for forgetting to get an actual screenshot of it last night, but I was so busy in the throws of excitement that it slipped my mind. Here's a picture of us standing over Gluth though, I hope that's enough. A missing screenshot can't take away our victory though. ;)

Last night, Voodooo Reborn conquered the last of the four quarters of Naxxaramas by taking down Thadius. I strongly consider the Construct Quarter to be the toughest of the four Naxx wings. I think that is actually Captain Obvious at work, judging by the fact that it has four bosses instead of three, and even the very first one, Patchwork, is a huge gear check for would be raiders. After him it's the same gear, but massive amounts of coordination with raid members to get those bosses down.

As mentioned, Patchwork went down like a bitch. We had the dps to burn him down once and maybe even ask for seconds later. After that, it was time for the big, gooey boy known as Globulous to go down. Now, for me, there is always that one boss that seems to create problems no matter how many times you take him on. In Karazahn, it was always Morose that had me pulling my hair out. In Naxx, it was Glob, and after a couple tries where I was dying and thinking "WTF!?!?", we got him down as well.

Next came Gluth, the giant zombie dog, and the farthest VR has gotten within Construct Quarter thus far. This guy is a pain, because you have to be able to control all those lesser zombie adds as well as worry about Gluth himself. Zombie Chow is what their called, because if they get too close to Gluth, he eats them and gets health back, and then its game over. Last night, not a single zombie was made into a milk bone, and Gluth got put down hard. Great job guys!

And last, finally, came Thadius, who most of us were facing for the very first time. There is a lot to learn for this fight. His two guardians, Feugen and Stalagg, constantly watch over the central, giant refugee from a Frankenstein type B horror movie. Not only did they have to get taken down, but they had to die within a few seconds of each other. They themselves took a couple tries, but if anything we in Voodoo Reborn are stubborn assholes, so they fell like a man hammer and then it was Thadius's turn.

Polarity. Positive and negative. Thadius gives them new meaning along with the word "positioning", and here I am very thankful of my DeadlyBossMods addon to help with that stuff. A positive standing next to a negative is bad, but two positives standing next to each other equals more ass kicking. After a couple tries on getting that down, we prevailed. We dropped Thadius like it's hot and there was much rejoicing afterwards.

You know, I honestly did not expect us to take down Thadius last night. Really, I didn't, but like I said we're stubborn. We learn from our mistakes, and though it make us two or three tries, or maybe even ten tries, we eventually win. When we do, we're going to poke you in the eye with sticks, tea-bag you, and spent many moments laughing mockingly at you. We're just like that. ;)

Tonight we go back and finish things off! Though we have taken it down before (well, they have since I wasn't there when it happened), Military Quarter and the Four Horsemen are waiting for us. Once we take them down, all that's left is Sapphiron and Kel'Thuzad. I'm not expecting we'll get to take them down tomorrow night, but if we could at least open that door for the first time, poke our heads in and say "Hi, how are ya?!" then I will be most gracious.

We've done a huge step of progress last night all, so even if we do take on Sapph and get thoroughly spanked, we still have a lot to be proud of. It's only a matter of time before those two get kicked in the jimmies, Voodoo Reborn style.

Last night's Raid:
Caemon - DPS Pallie and raidleader
Talelith - Mage
Bhuj - Hunter
Valeste - Heal Pallie
Saulice - Warrior, main tank
Pujaerna - Death knight, off tank
Shalinala - Death knight, dps
Vishnar - Shaman dps
Nakaeri - Priestly heals
Dakore - me, Shaman heals

Congrats to all! You should be proud! :)

Patch 3.1

So, finally. Patch 3.1 has arrived. After a busy day I get home and start WoW up, and it immediately started the download process, jumping to 10% complete in no time.

It's now at 13%, and it's been going for an hour. It looks like I'll be leaving it overnight and hopefully see some progress in the morning. Hopefully.

I really hope this is worth it. Honestly though, I am looking forward to this patch and all it's bringing. More than anything I can't wait to see the inside of Ulduar and all it has to offer. I've recently became a freak for titan lore, loving every bit of the questing in Storm Peaks. The raid seriously looks awesome. I'm also looking forward to the dual spec system. Spending 50 gold to respec to resto in order to heal for a raid and then another 50 to respec back to elemental when it was over? A thing of the past! Now it's just a button click, and vwala! :D

I don't know about any of the rest. I know a lot of people are going to be pissed about some of the class changes, and I can't say I'm too happy with some of the things that are being done either. I never play demonology on Waltz, my lock, anymore, but I see how badly that spec got thrashed with the removal of demonic sacrifice as well as a couple other abilities. Ones that have been there since the dawn of time. Ouch. I am a little peeved about the thrashing of destro spec, which is my current build. Moving plus crit to Soul Fire into the demo tree? I'd like to know what the fuck they were thinking on that.

Also, R.I.P. dual wield frost Death Knights. :(

While downloading I watched the promo video for Ulduar. As always, it showed a preview of what was to come in Ulduar by showing a few clips and creating some sense of dread with the release of Yogg-Saron. "Soon, we're going to be the prisoners," says Brann Bronzebeard. *brrr* That's chilling. His heart is in the right place, he knows that the threat is very real. I have to say I have a little more respect for Rhonin now after watching this video, even though he is a Marty Stu character put in by certain influence, but here I see his heart is in the right place too.

And though it's no surprise, I have less respect...no wait, I don't have any respect left for Varian Wrynn and his douchebaggery. He's doing as he's expected to do, be an asshole even in dire circumstances. I am, however, getting a little mistrusting of Garrosh Hellscream. The dude has a little bit too much blood and thunder on his mind if you ask me. He's an awesome warrior and I'm glad he's on our side, but I wonder if he's going to cause some problems in the future.

However, it was fun to watch him and Varian cross blades. I think Garrosh could probably kick his ass left and right and leave him crying for his pappy. Hell, the guy was able to go toe to toe with Thrall once!

Here's a quote I thought I'd share. It was found by a friend of mine in the WoW forums, posted by an alliance player:

I was born in the mountains of Dun Morogh. Trained from birth in the ways of a warrior. I have drawn blood for the Alliance and shed my own in return, I have killed for it and I will die for it. As a proud and loyal member of the Alliance I can say without hesitation of fear of contradiction that Thrall would have kicked seven flavors of shît out of Wrynn.
Sorry, but I Lawlz every time I read that. ;) The fact that it was posted by an alliance player makes it even sweeter.

Now, in retrospect, when Thrall and Garrosh fought during the Scourge attack on Orgrimmar, I believe that Thrall held back. He didn't like the thought of fighting his late best friend's son, so I think he went in just wanting to teach Garrosh a lesson, and ended up being forced to his knee. Garrosh is no slouch! The dude can wail on you and leave you a bloody mess on the ground. In all honesty, I think him and Varian Wrynn would put up a good fight for one another!

I wouldn't mind setting them in a room and letting them go at it until one of them goes down. I'd put my money on Garrosh.

Well, it's about midnight and I have work in the morning. The WoW downloader has since moved to 14% and is now hanging there. It is moving it seems, just way too slow. This is either the biggest patch in WoW history or my computer is starting to feel some pressure. I guess I'll just let it go through the night and hopefully it will be ready.

*sigh*

Edit: Yay! It moved! Now at 15%! :) Ok, off to sleep.

Warmth, Life, Light

*From the Writings of Dakore, Shaman of the Horde*

I have always believed that the lives of mortals is driven primarily by three positive forces. The first of these is warmth, the second is life, and the third is light. If you take away any one of these things you lose something of what makes existence more tangible: without warmth there is cold, without life there is death, without light there is darkness.

Granted, not all of these things are required to exist, as our Forsaken allies have proven time and again. I look at Sylvanus and her followers and I do see, however, that they have come to hold a bit more warmth, liveliness, and illumination than the members of the Scourge. For this I at least recognize them as a people, and not just simple abominations that others would see them as.

To walk where mortal beings truly have no business being though is quite the experience. At least the cold, harsh heights of the Storm Peaks had life and light to them, and those rocky, snow ridden places had more warmth than what I am feeling now. Icecrown literally is a land of nothingness. It has no warmth, it has no life, it has no life. It is a place of perpetual death.

No wonder this is the bastian of the Lich King and the Scourge. No where else on Azeroth or Draenor can you find a place like this. I doubt you could find a place like Icecrown on many other worlds. There is nothing natural about it, not anymore. The ice is devoid of anything resembling life. If anything were living beneath it...well, one can hope.

Everyone once in a while though, a spark will emerge and give a dead land a flicker of life, light, and hope. I saw one such spark after we took Crusader's Pinnacle from the Scourge, making a new base of operations for the Argent Crusade. Highlord Fordring asked me to search in the northern parts of the glacier for one of his missing crusaders, named Bridenbrad. It took some time for me to find his tiny encampment tucked away into the hills, but eventually I found the human named Bridenbrad.

I often have to remind myself that when dealing with humans, dwarves, and draenei that not all of them are my enemies, members of the Alliance. Instead, the are part of the Argent, so I look upon them as allies, and thus I approached this lone human as such. He bid me keep away from his camp at first, and there I learned that he had been afflicted by the undead plague.

Such a terrible fate to befall a grand crusader against the Scourge, and a sign that the world does not know justice by letting him be turned to undeath. Not if I had a say in the matter. Luckily, Fordring was not about to let this go either.

The powers of renewal, life, and light, as he put it, would help to save Crusader Bridenbrand. We tried the warming powers of renewal first, and I ventured to the sacred groves of Moonglade. There I spoke to Keeper Romulos, who, after a favor was done for him in the dangerous nethers of the Emerald Dream, granted his boon for Bridenbrand. I took it back to the crusader and laid it upon him, and though he was renewed in strength, the plague still gripped him.

Next we tried my beloved Alexstraza, the Life Binder, to grant her boon, which she gladly gave, again after services rendered which I in turn were glad to give. Her boon was her own fiery breath, and with hope the burning essence of the Red Queen could purify Bridenbrand of his affliction. Sadly, it was not to be. The Scourge Plague is a stubborn contagion, I will give it that at least, unwilling to let go of its victims, even in the face of such power.

There was one final hope, and now I was travelling back to my old home of Outland to see the greatest bastion of light that could be had: A'dal of the Naaru.

He granted his boon, and I travelled back to Icecrown to give this final gift to the fallen crusader, only to find that I was too late. Bridenbrand gave his last breath to thank me for all I have done as I laid the given powers of light on him, and though the light entered his body it could not spare his life. As saddened as I might be by this outcome, my heart was lifted as A'dal himself appeared there in Northrend, and suddenly the surrounding dead, cold, and dark of Icecrown seemed brighter and more alive. I watched as he took up the spirit of Bridenbrand and kept him from turning into the undead, thus, even though he died, he was still saved.

I cannot feel remorse about what transpired here. Not now. I am grateful that there is still positive power to contend forces like the Scourge or the Burning Legion, paragons of nothingness. These negative influences still have force though and the world can still be covered by them.

We must stand strong against the night.

We Danced the Dance

Congrats to Voodoo Reborn!!

Last night in 10-man Naxx, VR Danced the Heigon Dance! It took a few tries to get it down, including one attempt where four of us were left but still mananged to get him down to 4% health. We would have had him if it were not for a mistep by yours trully. *sniff* No worries though, because the very next attempt we hit him in the face with eight of us still up.

Congrats to Gurmm and his new mace named Despair and to Shadowtalon for her new bracers of healy power.

After that we tackled the final boss of the Plague Quarter, Loatheb, and took him to town on the second try.

Congrats to Shalice who got a nice healing helm and to Thokrul who got his T7 Shoulders!

That's two down, two to go, VR! We own Plague and Arachnid Quarter, in time we'll sack Military and Construct all the way too.

The Highlord and the Watcher

*From the writings of Dakore, Shaman of the Horde*

My first port of call in Icecrown is the now besieged Argent Crusade Outpost, the Argent Vanguard. There, for the first time, I met Tirion Fordring, Highlord of the Argent Crusade. He has been a friend to the Horde in the past, heard much of him from Eitrigg, and I know of him to be the few honorable humans to have lived.

Also there was a person known as the Ebon Watcher, and seeing him stand beside Tirion Fordring is like seeing ablolute darkness and complete light standing next to one another. I have seen a few death knights in my time, fought beside them even as many have rejoined the ranks of the Horde, and I can tell that this must be the mast of the Ebon Blade ranks. I hear Fordring call him by the name of Darion.

In that conversation was a debate. The Argent Crusade's advance through Icecrown has been halted at the doorstep by swift, powerful counterstrikes from the Scourge, aided by the nerubian spiders. I overheard this Darion urge the Highlord to set aside his sense of honor and fight the Scourge on their own terms. Ha! Allies they may be, but death knights all the same. I agree with Fordring. We cannot abandon who we are in this battle or any other.

But as I look out on the field of battle, the crusaders who fight and die against the scourge, I begin to have doubts, abut a lot of things.

Icecrown

*From the writings of Dakore, Shaman of the Horde*

Our final goal of Northrend, bastion of the Scourge and the Lich King.

I have never known a land that so adhered to the ideals of death: all the bleak darkness, the ice and cold, and undeath of this place.

This is truly a land of nothingness, just like its denizens and its evil master.

Fare Thee Well...

...Brother of the Storm.

I have no doubt we'll meet again in the future. In time the forces of both the Horde and the Alliance will storm the stairs of Ulduar and face whatever evil lurks inside. Then we shall fight and triumph as storm brothers once again.

Lok'tar Ogar!

Vengeance

*From the writings of Dakore, Shaman of the Horde*

Loken is dead. The treacherous titan fell to the power of brethren of the Horde, our storms too much for his. His dwelling, the Halls of Lightning, was another bastion of Ulduar, which he had taken control of, and many of his greatest servants tried to stop us, but they all fell, and so did he.

I am haunted by his words though upon his death. Yogg-Saron, an Old God, has been controlling him like a puppet, and this ancient beast of old times now seaks to be free of his prison?

Where is this prison, I wonder. As I step out of the Halls of Lightning and look up at the main bastion of Ulduar and its impossibly tall steaples, I wonder what lies within that the Titans have kept hidden.

In time, we shall see.

That Dwarf Again....

*From the writings of Dakore, Shaman of the Horde*

The Horde has been on his tail for weeks through Northrend, tailing him from the Grizzly Hills and now into the Storm Peaks. That search has been called off, for Brann Bronzebeard of all people has become an ally to the Horde, despite all that has happened.

I must report he has been honorable in our agreement to work together. An explorer to the core and driven only by the pursuit of knowledge, he does not know the same type of greed that plagues the hearts of most Alliance scum that I know. His motivation is to learn and discover new places.

I really would like to introduce him to my friend Xarantaur someday. I believe the Witness and Brann Bronzebeard would get along fine exchannging bits of knowledge and lore.

There is time for that later though. My most recent acquantance with Brann has took me through a place known as the Halls of Stone, one of the wings of the great temple of Ulduar, a Titan made structure in the isolated parts of Storm Peaks. Here we found more of Loken's Henchmen and their attempts to transmute the denizens of stone into beings of iron. With the death of Sjonnir The Ironshaper, who was overseeing this process, we can now hope that the creation of Loken's Iron Army will come to a halt.

One thing remains though, and Brann Bronzebeard has the right idea as well.

Loken must be destroyed.
